The Division is responsible for the licensure and regulation of over 60 professions. It also runs the State Construction Registry. The SCR is an online “bulletin board” providing full disclosure to property owners, contractors, and other interested parties, of people providing goods and services to a construction project.

The Division provides business registration and informational assistance. Additionally, the Division gives the public access to all of its records and data. The Division functions as Utah’s filing office and repository for all corporations, commercial code filings, business registrations, limited partnerships, limited liability companies, limited liability partnerships, collection agencies, and trademarks.

The DFI is responsible for chartering, regulating, supervising and examining state-chartered financial institutions. DFI also has jurisdiction over the servicers of mortgage loans, and lenders and brokers who are also depository institutions or their affiliates.

The Department regulates the insurance, bail bond and surety bond industries. Its regulatory authority over the insurance industry includes businesses such as: domestic insurers, authorized reinsurers, gap waiver providers, health discount providers, home warranty providers, individual & small employer group insurers, licensed insurers, life settlement providers, professional employer organizations, risk purchasing groups, risk retention groups, service contract providers, and surplus lines companies. The Department also regulates title insurance and escrow providers.
